E - Christmas
Since I am in a jolly mood today, I am going to tell you a secret. For the last two years, I have been celebrating Christmas 3 times a year.
My first Christmas comes at 7pm of Dec 24. This is because Philippine time is ahead by 5 hours from where I am. The phone lines are naturally clogged by this time from the numerous texts and calls that are trying to connect with their own homes to extend their personal yuletide greetings.
As our wall clock strike the midnight bell, 2nd Christmas starts. Our version of celebrating Jesus’ birthday takes the usual exchange of foods, gifts and greetings as we welcome the day with endless videoke singing of timeless Christmas carols and OPM tunes.
The third embrace of Christmas has an ETA of 0900 hours of Dec 25. This is when the people of Chicago, where my sister resides, start their own celebration. My sister definitely has the best Christmas this year since she now has Ironette Xam plus the fact that half of our family is with her to celebrate Christmas.
I think Yahoo Messenger with Voice is the best gift that Santa Claus gave away this year. Maybe I was nice enough this year to receive this gift and experience the 3 Christmas celebrations with my whole family beamed from our own webcams and headsets. Gone are the days when we just hear the voices of our parents through the voice tapes that they sent and just see them from the pictures they mail. Even the letters and texts can now be considered old school. With YM with Voice, its just like Christmas of old times, despite the fact that we are located at three extreme parts of the world.
